Welcome Turkeys and Canadians!  Roaul got a couple of shots of a wild turkey in our backyard this week. This was a first! We have a couple of different groups from Canada here this week. We want to welcome you too! My sister has a Canadian citizenship. She will be in town this month also. I know everyone is enjoying the green grass and beautiful green leaves coming out now. The azaleas are blooming along with the pink and white dogwoods. The irises are just ready to explode with lavender color and pretty fragrance. Speaking of fragrance, I am so glad it rained yesterday as my allergies are acting up. It was a pretty strong storm yesterday. The weather is warming up tomorrow and it should be gorgeous. NHRA is next weekend. We have great camping sites available. Be sure to reserve yours now!

It is absolutely beautiful here and warm. Windy but otherwise perfect. It means so much to us that so many of our guests are totally delighted with Yates Family Camping. We hear that you all love the wide open space here and the feeling of safety. We do live on site and have always felt safe here. However, in this day and time, we all need to keep an eye out  for others who would attempt to take advantage. Luckily, we have wonderful guests here and everyone does a great job of watching out for anything unusual.  Our guests just make Yates Family Camping that much more special. We are getting revved up for the racing action next month. We are totally excited about seeing all our our racing friends and meeting lots of new ones this year. If this is your first time staying with us, we know you will love it here and make some new friends with our great NASCAR fans.

What a marvelous weekend here at Yates Family Camping. Yesterday’s weather was an All Star! We attended the Totem performance of Cirque du Soleil. It is located in front of Charlotte Motor Speedway. It was a fabulous show. My mother-in-law, daughter and husband all agreed that it was fantastic. Well, you know it was great if you can’t stop talking about it! My daughter got a little sun burned yesterday. It was an awesome time to enjoy the outdoors. Spring is here and the buds are just about to break out in full glory.  Great weather predicted for the coming week!

Awesome rainbow this afternoon! At one time it was a double rainbow. The sun went behind a cloud and it disappeared only to return with some magnificent colors. Great weather ahead. Hope everyone can make it to Charlotte Motor Speedway this weekend for the fan appreciation day!

What an exciting week this is promising to be. There will be some rain moving in and out but the temperatures will be rising. The weekend ahead looks great for the Charlotte SpeedFest at the Charlotte Motor Speedway. It is a Fan appreciation event with something for everyone. Hey, they have some great deals on tickets during the event.  Sesame Street Live is in town. The Charlotte Checkers and Charlotte Bobcats are playing during the week. There’s a rugby festival and a wrestling tournament. Yates Family Camping is a great location to stay if you are in town for youth athletics. We usually have storage available, making it convenient to return back to our area for the next tournament.  Its a great way to save some cash, camping during your child’s games and being able to store your camper until the next meet. Everything is popping out with spring blossoms. Pinks, whites, yellows, lavenders, purples, and now I am seeing green leaves about to burst open. The gold finches are getting more brilliant every day.  The hummingbirds will return in about a month. Roaul will be mowing the lawn soon. it is a beautiful season here at Yates Family Camping.

Oh my, the sun came out here today, I sure hope the groundhog wasn’t looking. It was windy but warm today but that is expected to change to chillier weather and some rain is in the forecast for Friday. We are getting some reservations for the 21st Annual RV & Camping show to be held at the Charlotte Convention Center on Feb. 25-27. Yates Family Camping makes a perfect base for getting to uptown Charlotte.

It was absolutely gorgeous here today. It is still  mild outside. We wore shorts and had a picnic outside and enjoyed the action at our bird feeders. I decorated for Valentine’s Day. I just noticed our light needs to be replaced for our entrance sign. You can see it was a lovely sunset in the photo. Roaul got a couple of great shots of our Red Bellied Woodpecker (see photo below). The red head is phenomenal! Tomorrow is Backwards Day. Mild weather called for this week but with rain coming Tuesday through Thursday. 

There is more wintry weather coming next week. Thankfully, Roaul has winterized Yates Family Camping. We now have our water hook-ups protected against freezing temperatures. We have spread 8 tons of new gravel over the drive and we are still adding more. Today looks like it will be the best day to get outside. Enjoy the day!

I just added another great recipe to “Cyndi’s Cooking”! Ginger Beef can be prepared using a crock pot or a sauce pan. We had it tonight and Roaul thinks he preferred the crock pot version. It sure is easier than frying and simmering for at least a hour and a half! Also, its ready when you get home, just cook some rice and you’ve got a meal. This recipe is also low calorie and with the low sodium bouillon, its healthy!. Lets see… easy, healthy, low-cal, quick clean-up and very delicious – how can it go wrong??????
